Sergeant Audra Govenor has been out and about ensuring locals are prepared for what may lie ahead over summer.
The Get Ready presentations are being held across the region and last week saw Police, in partnership with the Barcaldine Regional Council, conduct the Aramac and Muttaburra community forums.
The community members listened with bated breath during the disaster awareness presentations and reflected upon the extensive local disaster knowledge and experience of Chief Executive Officer, Des Howard.
Sergeant Govenor says that during each presentation, it becomes clear very quickly just how connected individuals are within each community.
“The country etiquette of help your mate in times of need is very strong regardless of what barriers or differences may stand between them at other times.”
“So now is the time to action that country etiquette and prepare yourself, your family, home, business, pets, vehicle and help your neighbours do the same. Prevent injury to yourself and others by ensuring your property is free from flying debris. Lastly, response and recovery are not just the responsibility of our emergency services and other government or non-government entities. Everyone can lend a hand to others in need if safe to do so.”
Upcoming community forums will now be held in Barcaldine, Jericho and Alpha between December 5 and 7.
