Detectives from Emerald Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged a total of six people with 80 offences following the closure of a six-month drug operation.
Emerald detectives were assisted in the operation by the Woorabinda CPIU, Blackwater CIB, Emerald station, Ankie Station, Capella Station, Springsure Station Major Organised Crime Squad (rural), Rockhampton Dog Squad and the Capricornia Tactical Crime Squad.
So far, six people have been charged with a range of drug offences, some of which include producing, supplying and possessing dangerous drugs, and the possession of tainted property.
A46-year-old Gemfield man was arrested today and charged with drug trafficking (ice). He has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Emerald Magistrates Court tomorrow.
A 33-year-old Gemfield woman located at the same address was also arrested. She was charged with supplying dangerous drugs and has been denied police bail. She is due to appear in the same court tomorrow.
Detective Inspector Darrin Shadlow says that today’s raids show the commitment in the district in stopping these drugs out or circulation.
“These drugs are not only dangerous, but they tear families and communities apart. The detectives in the District and all over Queensland will continue to target people who seek to sell and traffic dangerous drugs in our communities.”
“I would like to acknowledge the hard work of all of the officers today and the support that we have been able to receive from many areas to get these drugs out of the community.”
Detectives expect to lay further charges and police investigations are continuing.
