It was the epitome of Australian spirit; a convoy of trucks travelling through outback Queensland to deliver hay to farmers who needed it the most.
125 trucks rolled into Ilfracombe on Friday afternoon to crowds of locals who welcomed them with open arms, cold beers and gratitude beyond belief.
Their delivery of 5000 bales of hay was the life saving support outback farmers have been waiting for.
As the trucks were unloaded across the weekend, farmers put their feet up and enjoyed a little relief with an opportunity to listen to good music and share stories over a couple of beers.
We’ll have the full report from the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners mission in tomorrow’s Longreach Regional Report.
