SWEARS IN – That is – As the towns’ new “Adopt -A-Cop” and Senior Constable Andrew Williams says ever since this Oath taking ceremony he’s really become one of the Isisford gang.
“It’s a great thing to be an Adopt-A-Cop, especially in a small country town like Isisford. The students at Isisford State School officially ‘adopted’ me on the 27th of March 2018. Now I’m part of the ‘family’. All of the parents turned up also. This was a great honour.”
“In the picture you’ve got my boss (Inspector Mark Henderson) and Principal Cassy Patience. I’m the good looking one in the middle.”
“During the ‘Oath of Adoption’, I promised to act in the interest of the children and endeavoured to create a close friendship between police and the students. After that we had morning tea including some chocolate crackles – Which I made!!”
The students know him as ‘Constable Andy’ and he says they’re all a great bunch of kids.
“Small towns are great because I get to know everyone, and I’m on a more personal level with the community and children and can be more of a positive influence.”
